The microphone
During a round the app listens to the person explaining the word, so it can buzz on a banned word and count a guessed one. Recognition runs on the iPhone with Apple's on-device speech framework. Audio and text are not sent to us or to anyone else.
The few seconds of sound before each buzz are kept in the phone's memory so the round summary can show the BZZZ! replay. They are replaced by the next round and erased when you close the app. A replay video is created only when you open it, and it leaves the phone only if you share it yourself.
What stays on the phone
Team and player names, the chosen deck, the game rules and the language. They are stored in the app on your iPhone and are deleted together with the app. We have no copy of them.
Purchases
Paid decks are sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; we do not receive your card details, name or Apple Account. The app only checks with Apple which decks are unlocked.
Anonymous statistics
From version 1.0.8, to understand whether people play, how often they come back and whether our advertising pays off, BZZZ! sends anonymous usage statistics to PostHog (servers in the European Union). For example: the app was opened for the first time or on a new day, an introduction step was shown, microphone access was allowed or not, a game started (mode, language, number of teams, decks in play, round length), a round ended (how many cards were guessed, skipped or buzzed, the score), a game ended or was left, a deck's store page was opened, a purchase was made (product, price, currency), purchases were restored.
Each event carries the app and iOS version, the app language, the App Store country and a random install number the app creates itself. It is not linked to your name, Apple Account, phone number or advertising identifier; we keep no user profiles. The IP address is not stored and is not used to find your location.
Nothing you say goes into the statistics: no audio, no recognized text, no card words, no team or player names.
If you installed BZZZ! after an App Store ad (Apple Ads), the app asks Apple once which campaign the install came from and adds only the campaign, ad group and keyword numbers. This needs no tracking permission and does not use the advertising identifier.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the game is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Statistics are kept for 12 months and then deleted. They are not linked to you, so we cannot find your records in them on request.
What we do not do
No sign-up, no in-app ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, and no data sold. Apart from the anonymous statistics (above) and crash reports from Apple (below), the app shares nothing. The game works without the internet; statistics are sent later, when there is a connection.
If you have turned on sharing of diagnostics with developers in iOS settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. We use them only to fix bugs.
Children
The game is suitable for all ages. It collects no personal data from anyone, including children; the anonymous statistics are not linked to a person.
Your rights and changes
The app collects no personal data that identifies you, so there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. You can still write to bzzz@kernex.md with any question, including requests under the Republic of Moldova Law No. 195/2024 on personal data protection.
If the app ever starts handling data differently, we will update this page before the new version is released and change the date above.
