Carry shows a Bible verse on your Lock Screen and Home Screen. After a Sunday service you can save a short takeaway of your own and pick a verse to go with it; the widget shows them through the week, and «My Sundays» keeps them as an archive. Scripture text is the World English Bible (public domain), built into the app.
Your takeaways, the verses you chose, your answers to the weekly questions (Wednesday and Saturday), your topics, the widget look, reminder times and your «Amen» marks; your name, if you entered it (optional, used only to greet you on the Today screen); your onboarding answers — why you came, when you are usually at church and the hardest time of your day (your reminders are set from them); the verses you saved (♡); and your progress in the seven-day journeys, including Advent.
All of this is stored only on your iPhone, in a container shared by the app and its widgets. It is never sent to us, and we have no copy.
Every day the app saves a copy of your data on the same phone and keeps the last 30 days of copies, so a mistake can be undone.
If iPhone backup is on (to iCloud or a computer), your data is included with your other apps. You and Apple control that backup; we have no access to it. Carry itself uploads nothing to iCloud.
If you say your takeaway out loud, speech is recognised on the device only (Apple Speech, on-device); cloud recognition is not used. If on-device recognition isn't available on your iPhone, you type instead. This needs the Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions. The audio is not saved; only the text is kept.
The Lock Screen widget shows your takeaway only if you added that widget yourself.
Reminders are local notifications created on the phone: a reminder on Sunday; two questions in the middle of the week (Wednesday and Saturday); if you turn it on, a verse of the day at the time you choose (Scripture text from the WEB only); and, if you turn it on before starting a free trial, a reminder two days before it ends. None of them ever quotes what you wrote.
Carry Plus is a subscription through Apple: yearly with 14 days free, or monthly. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card or payment details. You can also redeem an App Store offer code; Apple handles that too. Everything you wrote stays available after a subscription ends.
To understand whether the app helps and whether our advertising pays off, Carry sends anonymous usage statistics to PostHog (servers in the European Union), directly through its public API, without a third-party SDK. The events are: first launch; an onboarding step (the step name only); onboarding completed (no properties); a widget added (its size only); your answer to the notification request (yes or no); a takeaway saved (only how: voice or text, and how the verse was picked: spoken, suggested, search or manual — not which verse); a weekly question answered (the day only); «Amen» and «Next verse» (only where: app or widget); the Plus screen shown or closed (and from where); a free trial started; a purchase started (the product); a purchase (product, price, currency); an App Store offer code redeemed (the product); purchases restored; a purchase failed or was cancelled — purchase events also note which Plus screen the purchase began from; the review prompt shown (the system rating request appeared; no properties); and, if the Apple Ads information could not be obtained, only the technical reason (no token, not ready, network, http, decode).
Times are rounded to the day: outside onboarding an event carries only the date and its order within that day, not the hour. Onboarding steps carry only their order. A saved takeaway, a weekly answer, an «Amen» and the rating request are sent no earlier than the next day, so the statistics cannot tell when you were at church or praying.
Each event carries the app version and build, the iOS version, the app language, the App Store country and a random install number the app creates itself. It is not linked to your name, Apple Account, phone number or advertising identifier; we keep no user profiles, and the IP address is not used to find your location.
Never in the statistics: the text of your takeaways and answers, verse references, your topics, or anything about your faith.
If you installed Carry after an App Store ad (Apple Ads), the app asks Apple once which campaign the install came from and adds only the campaign, ad group and keyword numbers. This needs no tracking permission and does not use the advertising identifier.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the app works (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Statistics are kept for 12 months and then deleted. They are not linked to you, so we cannot find your records in them on request.
No sign-up, no ads, no tracking across other apps and websites; data is not sold. Apart from the anonymous statistics (above) and crash reports from Apple (below), the app shares nothing.
If sharing diagnostics with developers is on in iOS settings, Apple may send us anonymised crash reports. We use them only to fix bugs.
In the app: Settings → Delete all my data. This erases your takeaways, settings and the automatic copies on the phone. Deleting the app also erases its data from the phone.
iPhone backups are managed in iCloud settings or on your computer.
What you write is kept until you delete it. Automatic copies in the app: the last 30 days; older ones are deleted automatically.
Anonymous statistics in PostHog: 12 months.
Moldovan Law No. 195/2024 on personal data protection and the GDPR give you the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Because your data is with you, not with us, you exercise them directly in the app: view, edit, delete. For any question write to hello@kernex.md.
You can lodge a complaint with the National Center for Personal Data Protection (CNPDCP): www.datepersonale.md, 48 Serghei Lazo St., Chișinău.
Carry is not directed at children under 13. If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this page before the new version is released and change the date above.
